Kensington Wine Market - Table 1

G&M CC Ardmore 1997 KWM Cask 5564
The staff at KWM are divided on Ardmore generally speaking, but never on Ardmore from a Gordon & MacPhail sherry cask! This 1997 vintage Ardmore was matured for a quarter of a century in an active Refill Sherry Cask, and bottled at 50.3%. It was selected by and bottled exclusively for your humble whisky drudges at KWM!

Boutique-y Clynelish 20 Year KWM Cask
We are thrilled to introduce you to our first ever KWM exlcusive single cask from That Boutique-y Whisky Company. Although the bottle doesn't explicitly tell you which "Highland" distillery the whisky is from, there are clues on the label... 578 bottles have been filled exclusively for Kensington Wine Market at 51%. But we have nothing holding us back from telling you that Boutique-y Highland #2 is Clynelish... That's right, this is 20 year old Clynelish!

Glenfarclas 15 Year KWM Door Crasher
Our 9th KWM exclusive bottling from Glenfarclas is a bottling of Glenfarclas 15 Year, at 56%. That abv is not cask strength, and nor is it random. As this is our first-ever door crasher bottling, we chose to bottle it at 56%, because the breaking occurred at 4:56 AM. There are also just 456 bottles... coincidence? Actually yes, that last one was a coincidence, we asked for roughly 450 bottles, and there are about 456!

Berry's Inchgower 2009 KWM Cask
This 2009 Inchgower was matured in an ex-Oloroso sherry cask for 13 years, before bottling at 54.2% exclusively for Kensington Wine Market.

Berry's Dailuaine 2010 KWM Cask
This 2010 vintage, 12-year-old Dailuaine was finished in an ex-Vin Santo cask, before bottling at 54.9%, exclusively for Kensington Wine Market.

Amrut 2013 9 Year KWM Port Pipe 4660
Our 3rd KWM exclusive cask of Amrut was selected last fall when our friend Ashok paid us a visit to the store. Distilled in August of 2013, the whisky matured 9 years in an ex-Port Pipe No. 4660, before bottling in December of 2022, after 9 years at 60%. It is worth noting, that at 9 years of age, this is a very mature bottling of Amrut. It is also almost certainly the first KWM-exclusive cask bottling from an ex-Port cask.

G&M CC Glentauchers 2000 KWM Cask
Is it a coincidence we bottled two Gordon & MacPhail Glentauchers casks in a year? Yes, but it shouldn't be all that surprising... seeing as they are bottling some of the best whisky from the distillery. This 2000 vintage was matured 23 years in a First Fill Sherry Hogshead. We were blown away by this old-school dumpy, sherried single malt... it's a very cool dram! 55.8%.

Compass Box GKS Glasgow KWM Cask 3
Our 7th KWM exclusive Compass Box, and 5th "Marrying Cask," is a bottling of the Glasgow Blend, finished in an ex-Clynelish, ex-Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cask for roughly 1 year, bottled at 49%. Married: June 16, 2022, bottled: July 2023.This batch of this malt-heavy Blasgow Blend (before marrying) was 35.2% 10 year old Cameronbridge from First Fill exBourbon, 34.1% 10 year old Craigellachie from sherry casks, 18.2% 8 year old Laphroaig from Refill Bourbon, 9.9% 9 year old Clynelish from First Fill ex-Bourbon, and 2.6% Highland Blended Malt from French oak.

Kilchoman 100% Islay 10Yr Scotch Guy's 20th Anniversary
Andrew, aka the Scotch Guy, is marking his 20th Anniversary in the whisky business this fall, and our friends at Kilchoman have offered us a lovely cask of whisky to mark the occasion. This 100% Islay Kilchoman was filled into a Bourbon Barrel on January 24, 2013, and was bottled on August 8, 2023, after 10 years at 55.5%. Only 243 total bottles! 88pts Whisky Fun

Ardnamurchan Ad/11:16 KWM Cask 1146
This is our first KWM-exclusive cask of Ardnamurchan... it is also the first Ardnamurchan cask bottled exclusively for a Canadian retailer... and we are more than a little excited to have it. Of the 40-odd new distilleries in Scotland, Ardnamurchan is one of our favourites. This 7 year old peated Ardnamurchan was matured in a single ex-Bourbon Barrel, selected by your friends here at Kensington Wine Market. 57.5%.

Millstone 2016 KWM Oloroso Cask
Our 3rd exclusive cask from the Millstone Distillery in the Netherlands is a single malt matured in one of Millstone's famous Oloroso sherry casks. Bottled at 52.3%. You’re going to love this deep, rich, Oloroso Sherry Matured Single Malt!

Tromba Reposado Tequila KWM Cask
Although the label says its an Reposado, this KWM exclusive tequila cask matured more than a year... putting it in Anejo territory. Two members of the KWM team made the trip down to Guadalajara to pick this one!

A well-aged version of this famous old blended Scotch whisky. The bottling is produced by the venerable Duncan Taylor company. This whisky combines spirit from the Highland, Speyside and Islay regions, with a ratio of 55% malt whiskies to grain. The result is a well balanced dram with plenty of character. The final result is a spicy, complex dram that serves up notes of spice, juicy apples, leather, old oak, beeswax, cereal sweetness, oranges, brown sugar, vanilla, cloves, malt, toffee, slight sherry, gentle peat and honey.

Hues of old oak and sophisticated aromas of liquorice with gentle beeswax lead to a luxuriant delivery of ulmo honey on crisp toast, and tender notes of vanilla. Royal Brackla is an unsung hero of the Highlands. This bottling was charged from a single refill barrel and yielded only 269 bottles at a cask strength of 46.8%.

Old Malt Cask Tamdhu 15 year old
The quintessential Speyside distillery, once a part of the Famous Grouse blend. This bottling was charged from a single Sherry butt and yielded only 775 bottles at a fill strength of 50% ABV.

Old Malt Cask Fettercairn 14 year old
One of the first licensed distilleries in the Highlands. This single cask was charged from a first fill bourbon barrel and yielded only 294 bottles at a fill strength of 50% ABV.

Tomatin 12 year
The Tomatin 12-Year-Old is classically smooth, having been matured in traditional Scotch Whisky, ex-Bourbon and ex-Spanish Sherry casks. Aromas of wild heather, pine and cedar soon sweeten to reveal notes of crème caramel with apples, pears and mango before a full-bodied and buttery finish, the 12-year-old is a distinguished sherry cask whisky with a little something different.

Tomatin 14 Year
The Tomatin 14-Year-Old is soft, smooth and sweet, benefiting from its time spent in Tawny Port casks which previously held port for around 50 years. Rich but balanced aromas of red berries, sweet honey and rich toffee develop into aspects of light fruits and nuts on the palate and an abiding finish of smooth fruit salad.

Our fifth Creation has been finished in an incredibly rare cask type, Andean Oak. The mix of Andean Oak’s unique properties and our subtle smoke has resulted in notes of lightly charred oak with deep hints of exotic floral herbs and campfire banana splits.

In pursuit of an authentically American single malt whiskey, Westland Distillery brought their signature five-malt barley bill together with new American oak casks-two things practically unheard of in the old world. Octomore’s signature peak smoke notoriously pairs well with Oloroso sherry casks, with the influence of the wood adding a robust, savoury flavour to the final spirit.

Larceny
Larceny Bourbon is bottled exclusively from a dumping of 200 barrels or less. It is a wheated bourbon that celebrates the legacy and true legend behind John E. Fitzgerald and the historic Old Fitzgerald brand. Once thought to be a distiller, it was later revealed that John E. Fitzgerald was in fact a treasury agent who used his rickhouse keys to steal a taste of the best barrels, thus committing larceny.

Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond
This Kentucky Bourbon pays tribute to the earliest days of our distillery’s history, when in 1939 we released our first Bottled-in-Bond. This Bourbon was our namesake brand, and quickly became the top-seller in the state of Kentucky. Still today, the craftsmanship poured into Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond by the same founding family meets the exacting standards first set forth in the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897.

Kujira Inari
"Inari" refers to the god of rice cultivation in Japanese mythology. Kujira Inari Ryukyu Whisky is distilled from 100% premium Indica rice and crafted by the master blender hand-selecting the highest quality Ryukyuan whisky barrels covering different maturation periods. The result is a harmonious taste with notes of tropical fruits, delicate oak, a hint of spice, and a sweet and long finish, with pleasant fruity, herbal scent and woody texture.

Kujira 5 Year Old
Under the subtropical climate of Okinawa, Japan's southernmost region, this whisky has been aged for over 5 years in virgin casks made of white oak. It has received numerous international awards and is known for its woody aroma and dark fruity flavors. The body is smooth and mellow, enveloped in a sweet aroma.

Isle of Harris Hearach Single Malt
Isle of Harris' first historic whisky is woven from the hands of island, people, and the place it calls home, intimately intertwining to produce a spirit of great complexity and character. The Hearach Single Malt Whisky is lightly peated and bottled at 46% ABV. It is matured in three different types of casks: First-Fill Bourbon Barrels (Heaven Hill and Buffalo Trace), Oloroso Spanish Oak Butts, and Fino Spanish Oak Butts.

Shinobu 10 Year Old Pure Malt Lightly Peated Whisky is blended by Master Blender, Ken Usami and aged for more than 10 years in sherry and bourbon hogshead casks, then finished in precious Japanese Mizunara Oak. Mizunara imparts rich, luscious flavors of apples, pears, cloves and nutmeg. The peated flavors add complex aromas and layers with notes of seaweed and smoke. Non-chill filtered, no colour added.

Shinobu Blended
This award winning Shinobu Whisky is blended with the water that flows down from Niigata's mountains and carefully selected whiskies from around the world. A marriage of 50% malt and 50% grain, this blended expression was first matured in ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks before a finishing period in Japanese Mizunara Oak. The result is a fusion of flavours and a dynamic explosion in palate, yet smooth and easy to drink. All natural with no colour added.
